In memorium- Never Again
On this day of memorializing and remembering those that have died in wars, let us also take a moment to contemplate Peace.
Perhaps reflect upon the ways we each have created ‘war’ within ourselves and/or with another lately.
“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”
Buddha
And if we have felt wronged or hurt by another’s words or action, take the opportunity to see where or in what way we may have been doing the same to another. Above all forgiving ourselves, for that is where it begins.
“Let us forgive each other - only then will we live in peace”
Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy
Recognizing and giving thanks to ourselves for having the courage to look closer and the willingness to change.
“Peace is not something you wish for; It's something you make, Something you do, Something you are, And something you give away.”
Robert Fulghum
In that recognition let there be the sympathy and understanding for the inner being that acts in accord with old patterns whether personal, societal or of race consciousness.
“One of the secrets of inner peace is the practice of compassion.”
Tenzin Gyatso, The 14th Dalai Lama
Realizing that attack and defense comes from an inner pain or fear, unconscious and reactive until we seek out and transform the initializing cause.
“I do not want the peace which passeth understanding, I want the understanding which bringeth peace.”
Helen Keller
Granting ourselves the space and acceptance of the steps, leaps and fall backs of the overall journey.
“Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.”
John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Allowing our personal process of finding inner Peace to then naturally outpour to our environment and all that we encounter 'having war no more'. You may hear and feel it in this beautiful blend of old spiritual, the Sacred Sound of the Universe-OM and the ancient sanskrit word for Peace Shanti. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkrzCob9NEo
Be well and happy always and in all ways, Andrea
